                                                                                  About me

Hello and a very warm welcome to my website.
I experienced significant trauma which changed my world in an instant. I tried various therapists but became disheartened and frustrated as I could not find anyone who truly understood what I needed from therapy. I needed someone strong and dependable with the ability to offer insightful guidance. After a lengthy search I finally found the help I needed and this is what inspired me to train as a therapist myself, and be that person for others in their times of need.

I am a Registered Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, Registered Clinical Hypnotherapist and a Registered Midwife. Alongside my counselling I work in the NHS as a midwife. I have a wealth of experience in supporting people with trauma and mental health issues and have a natural empathy to my work.
I am dedicated and invested in aiding people to feel their best and work through their issues. I know the importance of a good therapeutic working relationship between us in order to achieve growth and change, without embarrassment or shame. I will create a safe and confidential space for clients to express themselves openly and work collaboratively with them to achieve their goals.

I understand that everyone's journey is unique so work pluralistically which means I am trained in, and use, a diversity of therapeutic practices to ensure you receive the best possible help, support and guidance you need. These practices include cognitive behavioural therapy, psychodynamic therapy, person-centered therapy, humanistic therapy and mindfulness coaching.

Sessions can be face to face or virtual.
Practices in Finchampstead, Wokingham and Henley on Thames.

I chose this name as Integral means 'whole, complete and fundamental.' Mental health affects us all, sometimes completely out of the blue, and our mental health is a crucial element in our lives and overall health.
Mental health refers to our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It impacts how we think, feel, and behave. This in turn influences how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices in our daily lives.
At Integral Mind Consulting, I understand the power of Psychotherapeutic Counselling and provide both counselling (short and focused) and psychotherapy (longer-term at a deeper level) services.

Anxiety is a common problem that many people face. It can be overwhelming and affect your daily life. I have numerous years of experience helping people to overcome their anxiety and regain control of their lives. I use a variety of techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy, mindfulness, and relaxation techniques, to help clients manage their anxiety.

Family therapy supports family members to improve communication, resolve conflicts, and strengthen relationships. It views the family as a system with its own unique patterns of communication and interactions, and seeks to address issues by involving all members of the family in the therapeutic process. I will help the family identify unhealthy dynamics, set goals, and develop strategies to create positive change within the family unit.

Depression can make it difficult to enjoy life and feel motivated. I understand the challenges that come with depression and provide a safe and supportive environment for clients to explore their feelings. I use evidence-based therapies to help clients understand and manage their depression symptoms, develop coping strategies, challenge negative thinking patterns and build resilience to live a fulfilling life.

Trauma can have a profound impact on our lives, but it is possible to heal from it. I have vast experience working with those who have experienced trauma and use evidence-based therapies to aid clients to heal from their trauma and move forward in their lives.

Couples Therapy

Relationships can be challenging, and sometimes we need a little help to work through our issues. Couples therapy helps couples improve their communication and strengthen their relationship.

I provide a safe and supportive environment for couples to explore their issues, resolve conflicts and work towards a healthier relationship.

I also offer individual therapy for those who are struggling with their relationships and need support.

Adolescent Therapy

Adolescence can be a challenging time for both adolescents and their parents. I provide a safe and supportive environment for adolescents to explore their thoughts and feelings and develop coping skills. I also work with parents to help them support their adolescents. I will use a variety of techniques, including cognitive-behavioral therapy and family therapy, to help clients achieve their goals.

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic technique that uses hypnosis (deep relaxation) to help individuals achieve a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility.

In this state, the individual is more open to positive and helpful suggestions provided by the therapist.

Hypnotherapy can be used to address a wide range of issues, including anxiety, phobias, smoking cessation, weight loss, pain management, nervousness e.g. driving test, and improve overall well-being. The goal of hypnotherapy is to tap into the subconscious mind to promote positive changes in thoughts, feelings and behaviours.

Hypnotherapy is not being asleep or unconscious.

"I had counselling with Kara for several weeks. It totally changed my life. It changed my outlook on pretty much everything that I had done, and on every situation that I have since found myself in. Since our counselling finished it has helped me to respond so much more positively, I have been able to work out my emotions and ask for help when needed which I never did before.
Kara is very calming and her techniques were amazing. I cannot recommend Kara highly enough, her attention to detail and her willingness to listen and hear me was second to none"
